You don’t need to be married to someone to stay with them forever and you aren’t guaranteed to stay together forever if you are married.
There! I finally said it and I’m happy I did! I have been meaning to make a post about this for the longest time.
Yeah yeah, I know that I am in support of marriage equality, but the topic of marriage is a rather different topic entirely. See, equality is a matter of what everyone is allowed to do, but the act of marriage itself is a specific action.
Most people paint marriage as being some sort of magical or sacred thing that also ensures security but it’s really not. Marriage at it’s core is a contract between someone, their partner and the law. Nothing more. If it was something that is secure, divorce rates wouldn’t be as high as they are. Heck, if the concept of marriage worked, divorce wouldn’t even exist.
